Web Roundup for April 2017: The Best Accounting-Related Blog Posts

Our first selection for April's list of best accounting-related blog posts comes from GrowthForce. Virtual Accounting: Why a Remote Accounting Department Delivers More Value. This post is very timely, since working in the cloud and having a remote accountant have quickly become the new trend. Here is the first portion of the article: "There’s been a big shift over the last decade from in-house to remote or virtual accounting departments, and for good reason. Automation and technology have made it simpler to track necessary KPIs and derive actionable financial intelligence for CEOs and business owners everywhere."

Double Rule has a great post for April, 2017, A Financial Perspective: The Modern Language of Accounting. Here is the first portion of the article: "Accounting is a language -- Economically speaking, the term accounting is often considered as the “language of business”, for it records financial information and turns it into a data which can be easily understood by individuals and companies.

Over the years, there had been several milestones that shaped the accounting industry and made it what it is today - one of the most significant event was the “technology shift”, where computers, machines as well as the internet became a trend, and automated the way we do things. But in this modern world where technology continues to change businesses and the society, questions remain if technology would replace accountants in the future, and is the language of accounting truly changed?

How Far Accounting Has Come

During the course of our history, there had been many events that forged the future of the accounting industry. For instance, way back before the rise of computers, we use abacus as a tool on keeping track of our financials.

Many other things were invented at that time, like those adding machines which helped people in solving mathematical problems that led to the invention of calculators. But still in the past, even though people can perform mathematical operations, they should still record the results of their calculations by hand, and by paper.

As a result, the computer, which can process and store data was invented -- then the world wide web and the internet took over, marking the start of the digital era."

Our final selection for best accounting-related blog posts from April, 2017 is from AccountingDepartment.com, Is Your Data Safe in the Cloud?
