Java Applications Developer

MoneyThumb enables leaders and accountants to instantly convert and analyze PDF financial documents. For lenders, we summarize data into an actionable scorecard that can be used to determine an applicant’s creditworthiness. For accountants, we upload transactions into popular accounting formats, including QuickBooks, Xero Sage, Quicken, and others. Our patent-pending Thumbprint® fraud analysis product analyzes third party PDF documents to verify their authenticity. Our enterprise product is built on Java, both as a desktop application and Software-as-a-Service.

In this position you’ll be working alongside our development team and the company founder to extend the breadth of our game-changing product suite.

This is a full time, remote position with flexible hours. The preferred candidate is located in the US.

In this role, you will be:

• Developing and implementing algorithms for processing financial data.
• Sharing responsibility for the overall design, evolution, and operation of the platform with other technology leaders in the team.
• Working with our marketing team to understand business requirements and help translate them into technical architecture and design.
• Expected to become an expert on technical aspects of the platform.
• Be expected to become an expert on technical aspects of the platform.
• Capable of reviewing design and code.
• Merging code to the master branch, making deployments, and troubleshooting the production platform.
• Owning projects start-to-finish, including design, implementation, and operation.
• Evaluating and understanding the needs of our clients and building that perspective into the code.
• Identifying bugs and solving problems that arise in the operation of our product.
• Communicating directly with the other developers and clients.

We must have someone who has:

• A strong knowledge of Core Java and J2EE and all aspects such as Eclipse IDE, Java runtime.
• Experience developing both desktop and cloud applications
• Our development environment is primarily Java under Eclipse on Windows.
• Experience working in Eclipse on Windows development environment.
• MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and PHP experience.
• Strong communication and follow up skills.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills and the desire to work in an environment where critical thinking is a key to success.
• Strong English proficiency.
• Exceptional time management skills.
• The ability to collaborate effectively (development is a team sport!).
• A high level of accountability.
• An open and agile mind.
• The ability to practice patience when faced with frustration.
• A high level of adaptability and dedication to continuous learning.
• Inherent self-starter abilities.

Nice to Have:

• Business Domain knowledge/experience in Accounting or Lending.
• Machine learning experience.
• OCR experience.
• Experience working as part of a remote team.

Work experience required:

• Minimum 5 years java development experience.

Education required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
